A letter from Pastor Stoney
Prospect Baptist Family,
As we continue to navigate the constantly changing Coronavirus situation, I want to remind you that God is in control and is ever faithful! This past week, He gave me a promise from His Word from Psalm 46 to "be still and know that I am God." As the staff and leadership have been working very hard to stay up on the situation and make decisions accordingly, this Word from the Lord was right on time and gave us the guidance we needed to move forward. Based on the Lord’s leading, I wanted to update you on how the staff and leadership have decided we need to move forward as a church body in the coming weeks.
For the next two weeks through March 31st, we are suspending all group gatherings on campus and will be live streaming an online worship service on Sundays at 10:30am and on Wednesday nights at 7pm. These online services will include music and preaching. We are working on expanding our streaming capabilities in order to have access on our website, www.prospectbaptist.com. I encourage you to make every effort to gather your families and join us online. During this time, the church offices will remain open and the church staff is always available to minister to your needs. We will continue to send out information to keep you informed. At the end of March, we will re-evaluate the situation to see if we can modify these plans. During this time we are all doing ministry in a way we have never done before and although we are not meeting together, the needs of the church continue. I encourage you to be faithful in your giving during this time. We are providing several ways to give in addition to dropping by the church or mailing them in, you can also give online at our website or on the Church App. We are also offering text giving which is an easy, convenient, and safe way to give. Visit the Church website for details.
We have also met with our Small Group Sunday School leaders and have developed plans for each small group to continue to connect together. The Small Group ministry at PBC has always been an important part of our body-life and it will be essential during this time to keep us all connected. Your Small Group leaders are working on providing ways to have Bible study lessons, prayer times, discussions, and provide ministry to their classes. They are excited about these opportunities and will be in touch with their small groups to provide details. If you are not connected to a small group, please let us help you get connected by contacting the Church Office at (704) 982-6167. We do not want anyone to be without this important ministry, especially at this time. In addition, the Children’s Ministry Team will be reaching out to families and is putting together resources for kids and parents to stay connected, Pastor Tony will continue to reach out to the Youth.
God is giving us a unique opportunity to really BE the Church at this moment and to point this world to the hope we have in Jesus. I am encouraged because this has not taken God by surprise. In fact, I am more convinced each day that in His sovereignty, God has either authored or allowed this situation and He will glorify Himself if we respond by seeking and trusting in Him. Let’s continue to walk by faith together.
