A letter from Pastor Stoney April 1, 2020
Prospect Baptist Family
Be encouraged! God promises us in His Word that “All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) As born again believers, we can stand assured that God is working out His sovereign plan through this current situation and He will be glorified. We continue to rest on the promise He gave me for the church as we entered this time to “be still and know that I am God” and I encourage you to apply the truth of God’s Word to your lives daily as well.
We are continuously monitoring the situation and putting into place new avenues and opportunities for ministry because we want to make sure every member and guest of PBC is ministered to, especially during this time. It is amazing the people that God is allowing PBC to reach whom we have not had the opportunity to before. With that in mind and in an effort to keep you informed, I wanted to make you aware of some resources that are available to you.
First, we have set up a summary page on our website of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or CARES Act that Congress passed last week that provides critical financial aid to Americans to assist during this time. This will be especially important for those that may be out of work for an extended period of time. You can reach that information along with additional resources at www.prospectbaptist.com/CARES-Act.html .
Secondly, the Church leadership and I have temporarily redirected the SBC Cooperative giving funds from the budget to be made available to church members that have financial burdens due to the effects of the Coronavirus. These funds will be made available immediately for the next eight weeks. In order to qualify for these funds, you must be an active PBC member and you will need to complete the application process. For more information or to apply for this assistance, contact the church office at (704) 982-6167 or Pastor Ray at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Thirdly, I encourage every member and guest of PBC to get connected to a small group Sunday School class if you haven’t already. Our small groups are meeting through conference calls, video conferencing, on Facebook, etc. Due to the NC Governor’s Stay-At-Home order, we will be unable to meet together until at least the end of April, so it is essential for every person to have this connection. Contact Pastor Aaron at email@example.com if you need help getting connected to a small group Sunday School. I want to thank our small group leaders for their willingness to minister in ways that have taken them out of their comfort zones and to trust God to do it. He is using our small groups to keep the PBC family connected.
In addition, as a result of the Governor’s order, it is necessary for us to postpone all events that were scheduled for the month of April. This includes our Easter at the Agri-Civic Center. When the Governor’s order expires at the end of April, we will re-evaluate how we can move forward and reschedule our Easter celebration as well as other events as we are able. We will continue to keep you informed. In the meantime, as your Pastor, I ask you to make a deliberate effort to stay connected by participating in a small group, watching the online worship services with your families, helping your kids and teenagers to connect with the Children’s and Youth activities online, contacting the Church staff if you have needs, being faithful in your giving, and most importantly, being faithful to pray.
Church family, I love you and we are here for you. I thank the Lord for giving us this opportunity to walk by faith together.
